Micheal Sparks Design, a new storefront design atelier in Manchester, is featuring previously unseen photographs by Richmond artist and former Virginia Commonwealth University professor Chuck Scalin.
The photographs, courtesy of Ghostprint Gallery, are from Scalin’s “Fragments of Urban Reality” series shot in Paris. Scalin shot textures, intimate spaces and architectural details — tiny subtleties likely to go unnoticed by most — and transformed them into large-scale photographs.
“We’ve gotten a rave response to Chuck Scalin’s work,” said Micheal Sparks, a creative director who developed Micheal Sparks Design in New York City before moving his agency to Richmond and adding a mid-century modern furniture division.
Scalin’s photographs are on display and sale through July at 205 Hull St. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday by appointment.
